# Selections

To make a selection, select the Rectangle icon or the Polygon icon underneath the menu toolbar. For a rectangular selection, click and drag the red selection box over the area of interest in the point cloud. For a polygon selection, click around the area to define each corner of the polygon. To close the polygon, left click on the first corner of the polygon.&#x20;

Once a selection is made, only the selected points will be shown. To show all points, uncheck the box next to "Show only selected points".&#x20;

To exit selection tools and revert back to the normal viewing interface, select the View icon. This will not remove any current selections.

To invert the point selection, select the Invert icon underneath the menu toolbar.&#x20;

To cancel a selection, click the Deselect icon.&#x20;

### Modify Selected Points

Once a selection is made, the selected points can be colorized independently from the rest of the point cloud. Refer to [Colorization ](/spatialexplorer/work-offline/workflow/create-a-cloud/colorize-.cloud-file.md)for more information. The selected points can also be assigned a class using the filter tool. Refer to [Classification ](/spatialexplorer/work-offline/workflow/create-a-cloud/filtering.md)for more information.&#x20;
